Yad Vashem and The Snappers

Mrs. The Capt'n's grandparents were posthumously honored at Yad Vashem in Israel the other day, for their heroic participation in Dutch underground resistance-type activities during the war. They risked their lives and the lives of their own 6 children to rescue an entire family plus 2 other people. The craziest part is that they had the mom of the family move in with them for 3 years, pretending to be the housekeeper, and then at one point, 6 nazi soldiers decided to move in, too. So for several months the Snapper family, the Jewish lady, and the soldiers all lived together under one roof. How they pulled this off without being caught and killed is more than my little mind with it's emotions can fathom.

I saw the obit in the times this weekend, what an amazing life. Vic and i were admiring how humble she was. Seems nowerdays everyone needs to be recognized as a "hero" I liked that she said she never thought she was doing anything extrodinary. She is a great roll model.

Corny, what obit? The Mrs' grandparents died years ago. Who you talkin bout, Willus, I am curious yellow.
The latest is the Yad Vashem website message board, where a guy wrote in who, during the war was a child hiding 6 doors down from the Snappers. He said how he loved them at the time and always remembers them with fondness, but after the liberation, he lost track of them. He'd been wondering about them all these years, but didn't know where they were, but now after reading the stories about the honors ceremony, he wants to reconnect with them.
