Juliana Snapper and Paula Cronan performed Cavatina-Crumpletta, their new piece for soprano and percussion, at Edge Fest LA

and all they got was this lousy T-shirt. Actually, they didn't even get the shirt, since the festival was only selling old festival shirts from 2002. But what they did get was a chance to try out their brand spanking new piece for the first time, in a relatively low-key environment. They then got to feel extremely pleased with themselves afterwards, having delivered a killer performance. The phrase that comes to mind is Eye of the Tiger.

I am the Tiger. Look into my eyes.

I know that bragging is extremely unclassy, but I don't care today.

Aw geez, Capt'n, I wish I coulda been there! I didn't know you play drums. Are we talking synth pads or what?

You two look so lovely together!!

Hey Peeds, what you been up to? Yeah, the Mrs. is a trophy, I can admit it. And no, I've never tried the synth pads. But I think it would be really fun to be a disco drummer.

I am just painting and reading and stuff. Nothing too exciting, although I just ordered up some some canvases.

So what kin of percussion do you play? I like the drums myself, and often annoy people by drumming on every surface around me--like the dashboard of a car...
YOU are a trophy too Caps, and don't you forget it.

Hi Peeds...sorry, I had to run off yesterday. So, like, what kind of canvases? I know you work the wide range of sizes. What you got going in the studio these days?
Me, I play the regular old snap kit or whatever, though not very well. But for this new thing with the Mrs. I just played 1 floor kettle and one cymbal, using a vibrator and my hand for one part and the stix for another section. The Mrs. hung upside down on an inversion table and sang, and for one section kind of blew through and sang through a little penny whistle thing.

hi Caps,
will you kids do your song for us here when you visit?
Thank you in advance!

Yes Corny, we'll do a little song and dance for you. We'll try to be as fun as karaoke (I like to set the bar high, and then get all nervous and anxious.)

With much flavor, percussionist 'The Captn' left minds much psyched and asses much kicked and looked good doin it.
