This Week in Sports

The Capt'n's out there getting it done. She normally doesn't like to brag but in this last week alone she made two breakthroughs. Well really the precursors to breakthroughs, but it was eye of the tiger anyway.
1.) A cross step. A real one, not an awkward shuffle, not a little hop, but two real steps, left right.
here is an example of a cross step:

And then here is Linda Benson doing one:

The cross step is one of the countless things that make longboarding far superior to shortboarding.

It was my 2nd ever cross step. First was a year ago, back before I was catching all kinds of mad rides and didn't know shit from shinola, in other words, before I was having anything to lose. I just tried it one day on a 1 inch wave without thinking about it too much. Since then I've learned to actually catch actual waves, and have spent all my energy on just enjoying the rides, or working on my turns, or trying not to wipe out, or learning to go right on big drops, etc.
But the other day I just felt ready, found a moment, and did it. I'll tell you what.
2.) An almost mini-barrel. Almost because it didn't really fully curl over, it just started to. I mean the lip was very prominent, but it didn't completely form a green room, just more of a green lean-to if you will. But I got down in there and even grabbed my rail, ok? Then I inexplicably stood up straight and rode out the rest of the wave with the lip smacking me in the side of the face, just to put myself in my place I suppose. Go know.

capt'n I've seen you out there getting it done and I have to say it is a thing to behold-I'm so happy about your breakthroughs-you're all cross stepping and what not it leads me to ask why you gotta be such a badass bitch?
by the way you are my mentor
just enjoy my ride
just enjoy my ride
just enjoy my ride...

missing you and dick
ps where does Linda Benson live and can we show up at her house with take out?

Linda's from the north county part of San Diego, Encinitas to be exact. I think she started out surfing on Moonlight Beach and like Swami's and stuff. I know a lady who knew her back then when they were teenagers. She used to see Linda out there getting it done. I guess she was often the only girl out there...poor Linda, such a great surfer and trailblazer in a sea of choads. But I'm sure she had a couple decent homies. Anyway, now I think she lives in Long Beach, the port of Los Angeles. Not to come across like a dorked-out stalker. And not that you asked for TMI. But you could do hardcore surf camp with her before Peru, because she has a school. Just saying. I bet we literally could show up at her door with takeout.

CAPT'N! I hear you are a thing of beauty on the waves. I'ma gonna get to see you one of these days. Maybe when you come here (ahem) we can go to the rockaways??

In the song entitled "I'm taking chances," Liza Minelli sings about how she's taking chances. The Pet Shop Boys know that in the circus men take chances, so a circus metaphor figures prominently in this song. the particular line you were trying to remember, Gree, is "The men from the circus are juggling tonight," which is a metaphor for how the men from the circus wanted to take a BIG chance and went over to Liza's house to roughly manipulate her "jugs". The men from the circus are JUGGLING tonight.

You're getting me all hot. What are you wearing?

I used to work in a melon factory. I was an inspector.

honk-honk

What is going on here on this blog/trash bin? I step away for one minute and come back to filth. It's hard enough JUGGLING 3 1/2 part time jobs with surfing, and now having to navigate thru this psychedelic vortex of ...I lost my train of thought

I like a good set...

I hear Liza has a real bubbly personality, that is, after the bump.

OH SMUT ALIEN WHY SO LONG BETWEEN VISITS!
I mean I know things are busy what with objectifying across the galaxies only stopping occasionally for a bump on some hastily named space station. I'm just saying SMUT ALIEN I know you're a loner but the Captn' and I are getting ready to have takeout soon if you'd like to stop by that would make us both so happy.
Jacques thank you so much for stopping by posthumously, and Camille I think we all wished you were dead.
But thanks for the semen I mean semiotics Jacques, I've totally under appreciated jugs in every possible way until now I'm renewing my commitment to juggling jugs as soon as I too finish cross stepping in bed.
Capt'n-sorry

okaaaaaaayyy

Capt'n! cross stepping sounds really cool like doing a little jig on the board, next level is surfing with yer tap shoes on, right? I'm with peeds, you must come here and show us how to do this surfing business.

We will make up special t-shirts for your arrival. "The Capt'n came to ride the rockaway waves....and all I got was a killer massage!"

Chil'rens, you give me the excited feelin's. I might have to cross step on the wings of the plane, just to have somewhere healthy to put that extra energy.
