TV, junk foods, beer, and a movie marathon: a weekend to remember.
It started on Saturday, when a friend showed up just at the moment The Mrs. and I were stepping out to a matinee. When the friend found out, she shrieked with excitement. We rounded up Sea Monkey and all went downtown to see the X-Men movie.
Afterwords, someone suggested we go to the Y, but when we got there it was closing in 10 minutes. Oh, well. Let's take a walk on dog beach instead, it's 5 seconds away from the Y. On the way to the beach, someone mentioned the drive-in, and The Mrs. said we should choose one or the other, realistically. Just as we hit the literal fork in the road, beach to the left, drive-in to the right. We chose right! Plus we chose the magical way to get there: over the high dramatic bridge to Coronado island, then along the strip if land connecting the island to the South Bay, where the drive-in is. The strip is called the Silver Strand. It really did seem magical to drive along the Silver Strand at sunset, with the bay to our left and the ocean to our right, and end up in the little, time-warpd town on the edge of Mexico called Imperial Beach.

Comments:
Everything was sold out when we got to the drive-in except The Da Vinci Code.

Plus I didn't mention the 3 other DVD movies we watched this weekend, and last week's Sopranos on HBO reruns.

Oh Capt'n that sounds like fun, fun, fun. How 'bout that Sopranos episode? Poor Vito. I was on the verge of tears. He will always be in my memory...limping in the kitchen fixing some pasta patane, porke chops with vinegar peppers and zalad.

Dagger, you are living the dream.

Capt'n, I posted a few of the pics, although I have a few more of Gree C and MM that are not there.

pd, I'm sad about Vito, too. Fortunately I have your pictures to console me.
I love that show, and I think the writers must be having the time of their lives. I loved how when Tony came to the conclusion that Vito had to go, the #2 guy (Phil?) said to Tony, "Don't beat yourself up about it."
I also love how just a few weeks ago, I was kind of hating Vito, when Tony was in a coma, and Vito was really wanting him to die. But before I knew it, they had me loving Vito, right around the time he wandered into the antiques shop in New Hampshire.

Dagger, look who's talkin'.

Yeah, me too. I wanted Vito and Paulie dead during Tony's coma days. But between Vito's antique shopping and Paulie's cancer--it became a love fest. I just hated how they killed him too--so awful. The show is brilliant! I also loved Carm's visit to Paris. I am sad they will leave us soon.

But I have found consolation in my photos as weel.

oops! As WELL.

Yeah, I can't stand the gross violence either. Isn't it true that they all negotiated one more semi-season of 8 episodes, to air in Janurary? Gree C's friend Pat paints scenery for the show and I think I remember her saying that. I'll put a call out to Gree C. to confirm.

Seamonkee!! You are more lika da Shakespeare I would say. I just bought a bottle of Man-Stink Ultra to power my blender and t.v. at once. It is available at Walmart.

I fear the end of the Sopranos, 'cause it must mean the end of Tony. I don't want him to die, even though his strained, heavy breathing makes me cringe sometimes. And Carm--what will happen to her? It is all too depressing to think about.

(Sea Monkey-you don't mind if i take this one, do ya?)
I know, pd, I know. We're like battered spouses with Standahl's Syndrome, or whatever it is that makes us identify with our captors. First comes the abuse, then they make us love them, followed by more abuse, repeat cycle. I thought they were all dispicable choad nazis at first. I thought Christopher was a hateful & ugly little weasel-faced shit. Now I love seeing his face. I blame myself.
Didn't you love that moment in paris, in Carm's dream, when she saw beautiful Adriana in those pumps and that excellent getup with her little French poodle?
I can't face Tony's death, either. But, you know, Carmella could always go back to Paris...she did love it there, and she did have 3 years of high school French.

Capt'n, my fantasy is that Carm will go back to Italy and find Florio (if he is still alive) and she will finally get laid the proper way. I hated Christopher at first too. But now I love him like a brotha. Even when he makes some nasty racist or homophobic comment, you feel his own insecurity so deeply, that it is not so troubling.

As for Adriana...I loved that scene. So sad when the cop asked Carm to inform Ade that she was dead.
