NO F*&%$# WAY!! Billie has been on the brain. Did you see that doc. on HBO? I did not know that Philadelphis Freedom song was written for her. I always thought it was written for me.

Philadelphia--SORRY for the typo.
Philadelphis is a Greek temple...in Fishtown.

Regrettfully, no, I haven't seen the show yet. We don't got cable. But I hope to see it at my friend's house soon.

or is it regretably?

When I was a kid I had a major jock fixation, and Billie Jean King was my big hero. I also loved Babe Didrikson, Olga Korbut, and Wilma Rudolph. Anyway, my next door neighbor Howard Goldstein worked at the Spectrum, where Billie Jean's team, the Philadelphia Freedoms, played. He gave me his extra set of season tickets and 18" x 24" poster of Billie Jean, and my life was never the same. Not only that, but Billie Jean King autographed my poster, when I was standing right there 1 inch away from her, and then she handed it back to me!!!!! With her hand!!
That was deffinitely the #1 high point of the season for me. #2 was when Elton John came and played an exhibition game with the Freedoms. I have a foggy memory of him playing with Billie Jean, and her going easy on him. But I do remember clearly how they played his song, "Philadelphia Freedom" over the PA the entire time that he played.

Wow, you actually got to see the Philadelphia Freedom? The have some footage of Billie and Elton on stage rocking out at one of his concerts (singing that song). She has the biggest fro. They run down the whole team tennis /Freedom / Elton thing in the show. Come to think of it...I think I saw you in the stands, lil' Capt'n.

G'morning tennis fans. I can feel the freedom in my pants.

I'll bet you do, MM, you winner you.
